—————————————————————————————
All students in grades 4-8 will be participating in this year’s Track and Field meet as part of the Ontario Physical Education Curriculum. The expectation is that ALL students come fully prepared to participate in the Track and Field meet on May 14th. Please ensure all permission forms are completed and returned to school. Bussing for this event for all students has been covered by our St. Luke Hot Lunch Program. Thank you to all parents and guardians who have completed this already.
To participate fully and safely in this Track and Field event, students should wear clothing that is appropriate for physical activity. Running shoes are a must! Layering clothing is recommended (e.g., shorts and a t-shirt covered by track pants and a hoodie/jacket). Please check the weather in the morning of the meet to ensure that your child is dressed appropriately, as we will be outside for the entirety of the event.
Students are NOT permitted to leave the Track & Field meet at any time during the day and they are not allowed to enter the high school. Please ensure that your child has enough water, healthy snacks, and a lunch. There are no food concessions available to students. In between their events, students will be sitting in an assigned area with their class. We suggest bringing a blanket or towel to sit on. Students are encouraged to bring materials like books, cards, a sketch pad, or small travel games to entertain themselves. They are also encouraged to watch the events near their location and cheer on their peers.
No electronic devices of any kind are allowed – no iPods, cell phones, earbuds, etc., as it becomes a distraction for the students. This day is meant to prioritize athleticism. Students are also reminded that we are guests of St. David’s CSS. Please review appropriate behavioural expectations with your child. Inappropriate behaviour of any kind will NOT be tolerated and may result in your child being sent home! We know that our Lightning athletes will show good sportsmanship, a positive attitude, and respectful behaviour during our Track & Field event.
For those students who purchased pizza, it will arrive at 1:45 in the classroom.
We are so excited for our annual Track and Field meet and look forward to a great day of community building with our Lightning Team!

Catholic Education Week ~ May 5th-10th
This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is “We are called to love.” It coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week. Through love and compassion, we continue to support each other’s well-being. God is love, and we are always called to live out this love. In our continued work for Equity and Inclusion in Catholic schools, a focus on love reminds us that all God’s children are loved unconditionally.
We have various special activities planning for our students and we have an upcoming Open House on Wednesday for our parents.
Open House for Parents Wednesday, May 8th 12:15-1:15pm
Please mark your calendars!
