Pancake Tuesday is just around the corner: Tuesday, February 25th! We will need volunteers so that we can make this special celebration happen again for our students. If you are interested in helping us out, please email Melinda Hannusch at stlukewaterloovolunteer@gmail.com.

Once again this year, the school will not be offering gluten-free, egg-free, or dairy-free pancakes. It is a huge responsibility to try to cook these on the same premises as the other pancakes and at the same time try to avoid contamination from the regular ingredients. Instead, we are inviting parents of students with allergies to send in their own pancakes from home. We will provide the syrup and heat up the pancakes at the same time the regular pancakes are served to the rest of the class. In that way, all students can enjoy this treat without fear of being made sick. Please send the pancakes labelled with the student’s and teacher’s name, and have your child bring the pancakes to the gym when they come in the school at 8:20 a.m.

St. Luke CES is an Eco School and we are striving for GOLD recertification this year. We are hoping for a waste-free pancake breakfast. Please consider sending a reusable plate and cutlery on Tuesday. To prevent sticky messes in lunch bags, you could send a clean, empty container with a lid, or you could send a large, reusable Ziploc bag to contain the mess.

Please remember that the pancakes are just a small snack, served in the morning. Students will still need to bring a lunch on Tuesday.
