We are blessed at St. Luke CES to have a community that has always supported families experiencing difficulties, particularly around Christmas time. In the past, this has been demonstrated through support for our “angel” families, with donations of toys and gift certificates.
It is often very difficult for us to identify which families need this support, and the worry is that some people who could really benefit from a little extra help have not been receiving anything. We would like to continue to encourage your generous support but, to enable families to better access help, we have decided that, starting from this year, we are going to partner up with some of our community support groups, such as the St. Agnes St. Vincent de Paul Society.
We would like to encourage you to drop off toys, or if you prefer to make a cash donation, cheques made out to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Typically, donations have included toys, gift certificates, cash, children’s warm winter clothing, and board games.
We will take all donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Agnes Parish, and tell them that they are for the St. Luke School community. (In addition to our school collection, St. Agnes Parish has its own angel tree.) We need to get all donations to St. Vincent de Paul by December 10th at the latest, so we will collect them up until December 7th.
Families wishing to access support can contact the St. Vincent de Paul Society confidentially, by December 1st. The St. Vincent de Paul Society number is 519-504-8399. The numbers for the Food Bank are: (Office) 519-743-5576 or (Information) 519- 743-4187.
We thank you for your kindness and generosity, and hope that you will continue to support the families in our community who struggle at Christmas.
