Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Hello St. Luke Families,
We hope you are all enjoying a safe and rest-filled summer. While we know the start of school is near, we wanted to touch base with you to share a few details. We are so excited to welcome everyone back to school Tuesday, September 6th, and to see the familiar smiles once again in our hallways, classes and in the schoolyard. We remain dedicated to providing a quality Catholic education fostering a sense of community and belonging, nurturing responsible students, and promoting high expectations in learning. We welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education too. We look forward to working with you and your children. Our skilled and devoted staff are planning and preparing for our new school year!
We are excited to announce that Waterloo Catholic District School Board will ‘welcome back’ our new Director, Mr. Tyrone Dowling. Mr. Dowling is a former WCDSB Principal and we are excited that his leadership will once again benefit the staff and students of our school communities.
Similar to last school year, we will communicate with you any school news, and updates via newswire. Please ensure you have subscribed to our newswire. Any information provided will also be posted on the Waterloo Catholic District School Board website and on our school website. Please bookmark and visit regularly for updates: www.wcdsb.ca and St. Luke (wcdsb.ca).
Our school office officially opens this week. We welcome back Mrs. Mackay and an additional Administrative Assistant who will work in the mornings, Mrs. Araujo. The office opens tomorrow, Tuesday, August 30th. If you are in the registration process, please make sure that all forms are completed online and all necessary documents are uploaded. If you are uncertain of the status of your child’s registration, please do not hesitate to contact the main office.
If you are wondering which class your child will be in this year, please keep an eye on School Cash Online. The information will come to you later this week. New kindergarten families will be receiving phone calls from their child’s teacher regarding interviews set for Tuesday, September 6th. As we have experienced, please understand that class placements can change depending upon the Ministry of Education or Board Directives, and fluctuations in the school population. With your trust in our professional judgment, we will continue to provide all students with the best possible learning environment.
If you are NOT registered for School Cash Online, please sign up NOW! School-Cash-Online-Register-Login-Instructions
Also, all of your typical “First Day Package” paperwork will come via School Cash Online as well. Please complete all paperwork and remember to hit submit so that it goes through! Your child’s classroom teacher will remind the entire class every so often, to ensure that all the necessary paperwork is completed.
Please do not go out and purchase lots of school supplies. If you are looking at getting something, please get a sturdy backpack and a pair of indoor shoes. Anything else can be purchased AFTER being in the classroom and seeing what may be needed. Most of the school supplies will be provided by the school.
Please keep an eye on the Student Transportation Website. There are some significant cancellations and route changes that you may need to know about. Please visit stswr.ca for the most up-to-date information. Generally, all bussing information is delayed until Monday, August 29, 2022, and some bus routes are delayed until September 13, 2022.
You may also receive additional information as we begin this school year or throughout the year that may be critical or time-sensitive. Please pay close attention to all updates shared by our school. A newswire message will be sent out to those who have subscribed to the mailing list.
The inside of the building has been getting its summer clean and it is looking fabulous! Some of the staff have been preparing their spaces and lots of planning is underway. All in all, we are looking forward to another year of working with you and your children. St. Luke Catholic Elementary School is a great place to learn and grow!
As always, please feel free to contact the main office with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation! We look forward to seeing you all very soon!
