St. Luke CES Update – June 26, 2020

Dear St. Luke CES families:

It was wonderful to be able to see most of you on June 24th and 25th. You have all been amazing in following our strict protocols. Thank you! Also, our whole staff would like to thank you for partnering with us to educate your children throughout the school closure period. We know how hard this must have been for families. Although we are physically apart, we have felt so closely connected to you as we worked together to figure out our ‘new normal’. I think the home-school relationship is the greatest strength of our school community, and I feel very blessed to be a part of it.

I would also like to thank our staff for their hard work and professionalism throughout a very challenging school year. They had to reinvent their jobs for distance learning and they learned so much in the process. What a team! Sadly, we have to say goodbye to Mr. Ennis, who is retiring, and Mme Lanis, who will be teaching at St. Timothy CES in September. We also say goodbye to some temporary staff who were with us this year: Mr. Goetz, Miss Duque, Mrs. Izzo and Ms. Davis. We will miss you all! We are excited to welcome some new staff members in September: Mr. Haller (Intermediate teacher), Mrs. Fischer (Junior teacher), Mrs. LeDuc (Early Years teacher), Mrs. Gasior (ECE), Ms. Shaqou (PSW), and Ms. Deneau (ESL teacher).

Parents, if you have not already done so, please complete this important survey:

Also, please see this message from our Director of Education:

Lastly, please check your email over the summer as we will be sharing plans for September as we receive direction.

I hope you and your families have a wonderful summer! We are praying that we can welcome your children back into St. Luke Catholic Elementary School in September!

Mrs. Duench

1. HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board and St. Luke CES wish to extend our best wishes for a most blessed Father’s Day! We would love to honour all the dads who support and nurture our most precious gift, the students of WCDSB! During this time we realize that heading out to purchase a token of appreciation may still be somewhat problematic so with this consideration we would ask that you please have your child open the following link and present the “gift” wherein to you!  Happy Father’s Day!
