St. Luke Safety Concern Resolved

Dear St. Luke families:

At the end of the school day today, a verbal threat was made against the school. As per Board policy, police were called and all necessary precautions were taken. The school is safe and we look forward to seeing students back at school on Monday.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the school on Monday.

CORRECTION

This message is to all Parents/Guardians who have a child/ren riding route #275 in the am to St. Luke.  You would have received a letter yesterday with a change in the route.  The start is Monday November 26, 2018 not 2019. Sorry for any confusion.

St. Luke CES – Faith in Action

We are excited to share our ‘St. Luke – Faith in Action’ slideshow, which highlights aspects of our Catholic faith community. The slideshow was created by two of our Grade 6 students, Jayda B. and Tania F. We hope you enjoy!

Please remember that Friday, November 16th is a PA Day.

Parking Lot Guidelines

Student safety is of primary importance to all members of the St. Luke community. Although we encourage all students who are within walking distance to walk to school, the following are the guidelines that we expect of all parents/caregivers who drive students:

  1. Parking lot use, both in front of and at the side of the school, is restricted to those who are coming into the school to volunteer, for a meeting, signing students in or out.
  2. The roadway in front of the school by the dumpsters and daycare is only for families with students in JK – Gr. 1 using the “Kiss and Drop”. No other families should be using this area for drop off.
  3. The barrier free parking spots at the side lot of the school are for vehicles displaying the appropriate pass allowing them to park there. They are not to be used as a drop off spot.
  4. Follow the signs posted in front of the school and on the streets.
  5. Please do not park in front of the buses. This causes delays and can be dangerous for our students.
  6. Please do not block the area where the bus for special transportation loads and unloads.

Be advised that the City of Waterloo Bylaw office has permission to come onto our property to ticket anyone in contravention of the posted bylaws.

Eco Club Drive

Did you know that almost 100% of Textile Waste is recyclable?

St. Luke School Eco Club is organizing a Textile Recycling Fundraiser. We need your help!

We would like to make a difference and raise funds for our school! From Tuesday, November 6th until Tuesday, November 13th we will be holding a school wide collection of unwanted clothing at St. Luke School. Please bring in or drop off any bagged, clean, dry clothing and linens to our school lobby for collection. The Eco club members will help with the collection and will come to classrooms to collect from any students that bring them to school. We will also be accepting bags on our Interview night (November 8th).

It’s an easy way to clean out closets and drawers at home! We hope you will help us in this important recycling effort!

Thank you from the Eco- club at St. Luke School!
